Earlier this year there was an opportunity to purchase the existing Loft property, however, the option to buy was complex and relatively expensive. At virtually the same exact time as the option to buy was expiring, the 6260 Hwy 281 property became available just a few miles up the road. It had the extra space needed for kitchen and meeting space improvements, as well as plenty of space for additional parking – all at a very reasonable price! Riverside prayerfully made the decision to move quickly to secure the new space and began the process of preparing to remodel the new building.
Currently, the Loft operates out of a rented space with strict lease terms and very few options for growth and expansion. Investments such as parking, additional dining space, private meeting rooms, and kitchen improvements would greatly enhance the Loft’s ability to reach, serve and love more of the community, but do not make sense with a rented space.
A small residential property along a rural, hill country patch of Highway 281 was the first home of Riverside Community Church. The car port in the back served as what Riverside’s first faithful members coined, “the Tabernacle”. Weathering triple digit summers and freezing winters, Riverside built a committed core of community and opened the doors to The Loft Coffee House, serving the greater Bulverde / Spring Branch area.
Since then, the Loft has faithfully loved on the local community, providing a respite for retirees, home school moms, high school students, local construction workers and everyone in between. Why do so many people love the Loft? Because it radiates His love.
Moving the Loft to this new “Homestead” property and into the original 1932 ranch home, owned and managed by the church, enables significantly more growth and outreach than the existing location. Raising the funds to pay off the associated mortgage will free the ministry to invest more in day-to-day operations and to, in turn, impact the lives of our community more than ever before. The Loft also serves as one of the most frequent ways individuals get connected with the church, making growth of the Loft a fantastic way to also grow the impact of Riverside on developing and launching disciples into the local community and the world.
