What To Expect When You Visit Riverside

Here Is A Little Info On How We Do Things

When You Arrive For Worship

We have reserved parking spots for our first time guests directly in front our Worship Center, but you can park wherever you like. We are a casual, family-focused community with coffee and donuts on the porch every week. We strive to create a welcoming atmosphere of friendliness and authenticity rooted in the love of Jesus. Our Hospitality Team is usually on hand with coffee, handshakes and a copy of our bulletin as you enter the Worship Center. You are welcome to hang-out on our porch and meet some folks before heading in for a time of worship, prayer, and Biblical teaching.

Where Do I Take My Kids?

The Emerge Nursery is available for infants through Pre-K at both our 9 & 11am Worship Services. Odyssey is available for all of our K-5th students during both services as well. Our program for Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers, Tribe, meets on Sunday evenings at 6pm in the Family Life Center. We invite all of our Middle and High School students to join their families for Worship during the 9 & 11am services. Need help on getting everyone to the right place? Just ask one of our Hospitality Team members for assistance and they will show you the way!

Style Of Worship

Our worship service starts with a time of singing and prayer before we listen to announcements, greet each other, and hear the teaching for the day. We cover  modern Christian music by artists like Bethel Music, Jesus Culture, David Crowder, & Chris Tomlin, and we even feature original music by our Worship Team Leadership from time-to-time. Some people raise their hands, some sway, some dance, some folks even paint and make art. We invite you to experience God however he might lead during this time. Most of all, we desire to create a place where everyone can worship together, to learn, to grow, and to experience the Life-giving power of God’s Holy Spirit in each of us.

Dress

We may have roots in Methodism, but we are a little more laid-back when it comes to our approach to liturgy and dress. We like to keep things pretty casual and see a wide-range of approaches when it comes to ‘Sunday Best’. Like to wear khakis and a polo shirt? That’s cool. Maybe you are more of a flip-flops, jeans and a t-shirt person? That works too! You will most likely even see shorts and Hawaiian shirts when the summer heat is in full effect. Whether you like to come in your best pair of jeans and cowboy boots to worship or you like to get to get ‘all dressed up’ in honor of God, that is all we really care about; that we would honor God and remain focused on Him. Come as you are and let’s worship together in Spirit and Truth.

Communion

The 1st Sunday of every month is our Family Service and there is no Odyssey or Nursery during this time as all of our families join together for worship in the Sanctuary. We also offer Communion during this service. We invite anyone in attendance who has made a personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior to join us in this act of remembrance.

 The Shema

Every Sunday we say The Shema, a passage of text from Deuteronomy 6:4-9. We read it aloud together with conviction and as a declaration of the people of God that we desire to be. Jesus would have said this at least 3 times a day growing up in Israel. We speak it today in phonetic Hebrew and then in English as a way of connecting with our Savior and having his very words in our mouths. This is our banner for our Church, our Community and The World.
